In regards to Dan H's problem with repeated duplicate messages, I think: Personally, I think it's up to Gather to institute a policy to stop this repeated duplicated redundant posts. I don't think it would be hard to have some sort of auditing system for exact copies. I am a member of severall different groups that host the posting of the same article. That sort of thing isn't a problem, but it would be nice to have some sort of tag to sort out the duplicates. Like others, I don't even know the points, let alone game the system. It's a denial of service attack of a bot, whether manual or automatic. Dano

hi, i'm new to Gather and want to upload pictures and change my icon too. every time i try, it locks up my laptop. I have to close everything and start over. Please help! littlewoman

That's quite a list of "bugs fixed" above. It seems a damn fool would have enough sense to fix/repair/prevent such stupid things from happening BEORE releasing an upgrade. Common sense does not seem to be a trademark of Gather.

I still can not access my settings at my group, Squirrelbait.gather.com. I can not leave a comment either in the conversation space. This has been going on since right after the last big group change. I have contacted gather about this problem and it still has not been fixed. i'd appreciate anything that can be done Soon.

I have no idea how to find someone to ask for advice on a nagging problem. Kevin tried some advice, but I'm stumped and I'm getting really annoyed too.
A couple of weeks ago from this same computer, hooked up to the same DSL, I uploaded 3 poetry recitations. I've been trying for 3 days to post another and all I am getting is grief. This is what has occurred about 20X so far. I choose an Mp3 to upload. It says it is uploading. The progress bar slowly fills in to 100% and then one of two things happen. Either the bar shrinks back to 50% and starts its slow climb again, or it freezes at that point and I can wait for HOURS w/o jack shit happening. The second possibility is that it does NOT shrink back to 50%, but simply stays frozen. WTF? I've tried mostly with Firefox, but I've also attempted it with Safari and even once with Netscape. I have a G3 iBook running OS X Tiger. Java is up to date and I have the latest version of Flash. I have no anti-virus app and don't believe there is a firewall anywhere either. The really weird thing is that it HAS worked before under the exact same conditions as exist now. The only thing that I can think of that could be significant is that this particular file is 7.75MBs and the previous ones were around half that. And to top it all off, I'm not even sure that this is the proper place to grouse about it.

Sometimes when I join a new group, I literally get dozens of emails from them every day, and I did not mark to be notified when someone posted or commented. How do I stop these emails from flooding my inbox without removing myself from the group

Chuck, I'm using 3.0.6 --- I have just gone back to Firefox to try to use it again and it is working just fine now. Don't know if you guys did anything or if it just started working for me on its own. Whatever happened, I can use my version of Firefox now to do it all (well, at least all that I've tried thus far).
